Project Manager
Rowdy O’Grady
Seneca’s Commercial team was hired to complete a full-service installation of tank equipment in Sioux City, Iowa. The project scope involved the installation of two 8,000-gallon UL 2085 Fireguard tanks, three product dispensers and associated tank top equipment. A key feature of the project was the integration of remote fills, eliminating the need for a cabinet that previously connected to the top of the tanks. All piping was carbon steel, and a tank monitoring system was installed with startup calibration. The system also included an onsite spill kit and an Assetworks card reader, which was integrated into the site’s network for secure fuel dispensing.
Seneca’s commercial team handled the full installation of the products, while a subcontracted welding company was responsible for the carbon steel piping. After installation, Seneca’s service team managed the dispenser startup and purge process, as well as the Assetworks system startup and programming. Seneca’s project manager provided training for the site owner on how to operate the entire system. A custom dispenser management panel, which included a full power shut off, was built and installed by Seneca’s remediation team to ensure compliance with electrical and fire codes.
The project faced a few challenges, mostly hinging around an accelerated timeline for the scope of work. Additionally, the project experienced a brief hold due to the installation of a new network fiber optic line within the facility.
To overcome these challenges, Seneca increased collaboration and communication with the subcontractor and client to adapt to changing circumstances. In addition, the established relationship between the client and Seneca fostered open communication, mutual trust and a shared commitment to the project’s overall success.
The customer is satisfied with the work that Seneca’s Commercial team has done.
